I'v made lots of research to make this piece and I have to say the design of the head was quite a challenge. I've used a dog funnel collar and a flexible petrol funnel. The fake vinyl is actually turning... Inside the box I cut out a small front window with black net to let the sound of my music player out.
Tin cans were used as flower pots, as you can imagine at the time people had to make and do with what they had. So I decided to recreate some old brand tins of food, such as Bird Custard Cream and Peacock Jam. They were displayed on simple red checkered table cloths with real fabric doilies.
Bunting were made out of scraps of fabric and doily, bits of ribbon and trim, using that same idea of 'Make do and Mend' attitude.
